The road to Gramado is an attraction itself during this time of the year. In fact, it’s a very delightful road, with beautiful sightseeings during all the year. However, if you are going to spend Christmas in Gramado, you will see thousands of hydrangeas in blossom.
3)ROUNDABOUT OF FLAGS – CHRISTMAS IN GRAMADO

The Roundabout of Flags is located at the Leopoldo Rosenfeld Square. Its flags celebrate the brazilian states. There you can find a huge Kikito. It’s a trophy given to the winners of the Gramado Film Festival. It represents ” god of good humor”.
The Leopoldo Rosenfeld Square has awesome flowerbeds. You can start your walking tour of the most decorated part of Gramado during Christmas here.
In this picture, you can see the beginning of Borges de Medeiros Avenue, next to the Roundabout of Flags. There is always something beautiful for you to appreciate here.
4)SQUARE OF THE ETHNIC GROUPS – SETTLER’S HOUSE

Here you can see the architecture of the 03 most important cultures that settled in Gramado: german, italian and portuguese.
Besides that, you can buy all sorts of breads and a typical cake called “cuca” made in the wood oven located at the square. It’s really difficult to resist when you smell hot bread getting off the oven…
Pay attention: A vast part of Christmas decorations in Gramado is made by recycled plastic bottles, like the angel in the picture. This is really cool!

5)REINDEER EXPOSITION – CHRISTMAS IN GRAMADO
Reindeer Exposition – Christmas in Gramado
We love the Reindeer Exposition at Pedro Benetti Street during Christmas in Gramado. This is a very short street, beside St. Peter’s Church, next to the Palace of Festivals.
The reindeers, in natural size, are decorated by local artists, accordingly their inspiration. You can see that all families enjoy choosing the one each member prefers.
6)ST. PETER’S CHURCH – CHRISTMAS IN GRAMADO

St. Peter’s Church – Christmas in Gramado
St. Peter’s Church is a religious landmark for the community of Gramado. The church structure is made of basaltic stone. Its tower is 151 ft high. What I have loved the most was the glass footbridge, like stained glass, in front of the church. You can really walk over it! It shows religious scenes. It’s heart touching and gorgeous! One of the most original attractions of Christmas in Gramado.

7)PALACE OF FESTIVALS

The Gramado Film Festival happens here every year. It’s one of the most beautiful parts of the street decoration. Usually each store is responsible for one Christmas Tree.
8)THE COVERED STREET – CHRISTMAS IN GRAMADO
The Covered Street – Christmas in Gramado
This is the coolest place to go. At lunch or dinner, a lot of people come here. The reasons vary: eating at one of the restaurants, window shopping or watching a Christmas show at the stage located there.
9)HOTEL CASA DA MONTANHA – CHRISTMAS IN GRAMADO
Hotel Casa da Montanha
Walk to Hotel Casa da Montanha. It’s worth the effort. The hotel facade is beautiful and in the last years, they assembled a charming carousel. My friends know I love carousels. By the way, one of the most beautiful ones that I have ever seen (and ride) is in Honfleur, in France. I will soon translate the post for you!
10)GATE BETWEEN GRAMADO AND NOVA PETRÓPOLIS
Gate between Gramado and Nova Petrópolis – Christmas in Gramado
Even if you don’t intend to go home via Nova Petrópolis, go to this gate to see the decoration. It’s always very different from the other city gate.
Take in consideration that this pictures were taken in previous years. The Christmas decoration is not assembled yet. The intention of the pictures displaied here is to give you an idea of what you can see every year.
Christmas season in Gramado has more than 300 shows, concerts, parades and theater performances. The tickets usually start being sold in August or September.
TIP: AVOID DECEMBER, THE BUSIEST MONTH!
