The Gramado Zoo

The Gramado Zoo

The Gramado Zoo presents 1500 animals of the Brazilian fauna in a different way: It does not have crates and cages, but enormous nurseries that faithfully reproduce the habitat of the animals or armored glasses that allow the visitors to get very close to the most dangerous!

Opened in 2008, it is a delightful place for a stroll in the Serra Gaúcha. And we must emphasize: It is not only built for tourism purposes. It follows the most modern concepts, from European countries, being a place of animal welfare, research, environmental education and conservation.

THE GRAMADO ZOO TIP: TO CELEBRATE THE CHILDREN’S DAY, GIVE YOUR SON, GRANDCHILD, GODSON, NEPHEW AND YOURSELF A VISIT TO THE GRAMADO ZOO! CONTACT WITH NATURE IS A MAGICAL GIFT!

The animals you will find here have been rescued and are well treated after exams made by a specialized staff. Do not worry! It is not a place of sadness, depressed and in bad conditions animals. Quite the opposite!

We’ve visited it more than 10 times. Luiza and her friends always loved visiting the Gramado Zoo. When she was younger, always with some adult. When she grew up, it was a place of enjoyment with friends. We also made the night visit, which is amazing!

1) THE VISIT – IS IT WORTH VISITING THE GRAMADO ZOO?

The Gramado Zoo

When you get to the entrance, you already see that here is a different zoo. It’s you who enters the aviary. They are free. And they come very close to you! Spontaneously!

Some of the birds loved the laces of our sneakers. We stood still so we would not hurt them. Give enough time to spend there. We had so much fun, making ourselves statues, to see which ones came closest to get the perfect picture.

The zoo tracks has 1800 meters well paved, where you walk calmly and without great physical effort.

The Gramado Zoo provides animal food for purchase so that you can feed the animals properly. In addition, the quantity is limited. Maybe, if you go late in the afternoon, they’ve already fed enough and you will not be able to do it yourself

Do not be worried about the animals from the cold regions. The penguins even have air conditioning to keep them happy in the summer!

2) THE ANIMALS – IS IT WORTH VISITING THE GRAMADO ZOO?

In the Gramado Zoo, you will not find elephants, giraffes, lions, gorillas, pandas and other animals that do not belong to the Brazilian fauna. Here, the focus is on our animals or those who visit us. And there are many! And they are beautiful!

You will see: guará wolves, cougars, ocelots, amazon and pantanal jaguars, emus, tapirs, macaws, toucans, porcupines, bush cats, howler monkeys and much more!

And what is special, close to you and receiving a very good care!

3) NIGHT VISIT – IS IT WORTH VISITING THE GRAMADO ZOO?

The night tour is really a great experience. Well worth it. We did it with a beautiful full moon. To make the night visit, you need to call the Gramado Zoo and schedule it. In 2017, it is costing R$ 80,00 per person. We walked in the dark, with only small lanterns illuminating the path, carefully not to stress the animals. Never focusing on their faces.

What makes it even more special is that some animals, such as the jaguars and pumas, are more active at night and it becomes more interesting to observe them.

THE GRAMADO ZOO TIP: THE DAY TOUR AND THE NIGHT ARE TOTALLY DIFFERENT! MAKE BOTH!

In addition, at the night visit, you walk with a guide who gives you all the information. In this case, since Luiza was the youngest of the group, she was the one who fed the animals, including the jaguars and cougars! Imagine the excitement! Detail: They leave buckets ready with the food. The child only pulls a rope to turn it. Everything separated by glass.

At the end of our tour, we visited the veterinary facilities, where we met a guará wolf. Beautiful!
