The Croatian islands are amazing! Vis, Bisevo and Budihovac have been frequently listed among the top 10 oasis islands in Mediterranean, because of their biodiversity and very good conservation. Check here the one day tour we did around these most beautiful Croatian islands, including the famous Hvar.
We took a fast boat from Split (more details below) and it was one of our best tours in Croatia, worth of every penny invested.
1)BLUE CAVE AT BISEVO – THE MOST BEAUTIFUL CROATIAN ISLANDS IN 1 DAY!
Bisevo – The most beautiful Croatian Islands in 1 day!
Discovered by the Viennese painter Baron Eugen Ransonnet in 1884, the Blue Cave, in Croatia, became famous around the world.
According to one of his articles, the Croatian Blue Grotto (as it is also known) is even more beautiful than the other famous one, the Gruta Azzura in Capri, considered by many, the most wonderful cave in the world, at that time.
The “Blue Grotto” became one of the greatest touristic attractions in the Adriatic Sea for the elite when it was discovered and a major inspiration source for painters and poets. Unfortunately, this Croatian Islands were closed for foreign visitors in the end of the 2nd World War, since they were declared a military zone. The access was reopened in 1989, when the tourists were allowed to visit this paradise again!

Natural arch under the sea in the Blue cave – The most beautiful Croatian Islands in 1 day!
The Austrian Archduke Ferdinand Maximilian had plans to build a house in Bisevo, but in the end, he decided to built it in Lokrum, just in front of Dubrovnik. We also loved Lokrum and this post will be soon translated. Some of our pics from Lokrum are posted in our Instagram (@meusdestinosimperdiveis), including one from our daughter Luiza, jumping from a cliff. Awesome!

VISITING BLUE CAVE
In order to maintain the cave preserved, it is forbidden to swim inside it. The visit is made in small wooden boats for 11 people plus the “captain”.
You need to take the boat in Bisevo, where they sell the tickets for the tour. There is a small eatery to buy snacks and water, bathrooms and the ticket booth. Very organized and clean. There is an electronic panel to inform the tourists in which boat they need to board.
The tickets were included in our tour. They cost $70 Kunas, the local currency in Croatia.
2)GREEN CAVE IN RAVNIK ISLAND – THE MOST BEAUTIFUL CROATIAN ISLANDS IN 1 DAY!

The Green Cave has two large entrances, from where small boats can go in and out. The color of the sea is spectacular, enhanced by the light that penetrates from a small hole in the top of the cave, in the format of a dome. Once the cave is very dark, the solar light effect in the sea in amazing!

In the green cave, as you can see in the pictures, you can swim. We made two rounds: first the boat left us in front of one entrance and we crossed the cave swimming. After that, everybody went on board again and the boat crossed the cave.

Many people climb the cliff outside the cave and jump in the sea. It is cool to watch the adventurous jumping!
3)STINIVA BAY AT VIS ISLAND – THE MOST BEAUTIFUL CROATIAN ISLANDS IN 1 DAY!
Stiniva – The most beautiful Croatian Islands in 1 day!
The Stiniva beach in Croatia, was elected the most beautiful beach in Europe in 2016 by the site European Best Destinations. It was described as an idyllic place to swim in the crystal blue water.

The highlight of Stiniva is the shape of its bay, which leaves just a small opening to the sea. The minimum distance between the cliffs is only 4 meters (13ft) ! The water here is calm and very clean.

Currently, the boats stop outside the bay, as you can see above. The narrow entrance is separated by a rope. Also here you will find people jumping from the cliffs.

Our last stop in one of the most beautiful the Croatian Islands before lunch. It looks like a swimming pool, don’t you think? Budihovac is a shallow beach, gorgeous, crystalline and warm water, where several yachts stop by to enjoy the beauty and peace. Hard to describe how beautiful it is.

There is only one construction in this island, a nice restaurant. We were hungry and tried to buy some snacks, but it was impossible, since they only accept Kunas and we didn’t have any with us.

Simply rates 10 out of 10! We stopped here for a local wine tasting session. The grapes are cultivated in the island! The wine tasting was included in our tour. Delicious. The acidity of the wine is one of the main characteristics, reminding us the Greek wine we had drunk at Santorini.

We decided to have lunch there. The place was great and beside the sea. Lunch was not included in the tour, but everybody from our small group opted to lunch at their restaurant. We ate the best octopus ever. A lot of meat and very soft. All the dishes were very good and at a fair price.
If you want, it is possible to walk and have lunch in 01 of the 02 restaurants at the beach.

After lunch, we swam in the beautiful sea, again very nice and warmer than in other Croatian Islands.

-CITY OF HVAR
Hvar – The most beautiful Croatian Islands in 1 day!
With a great historical and charming downtown, the city of Hvar, in one of the most beautiful Croatian Islands, is small and with an excellent infra structure. From the sea, you already catch sight of the fortifications built in 1551 and 1810.
It was very hot and we were exhausted after so many baths at the fantastic sea of the Croatian Islands, so we decided to skip the visit to the fortress. We made a guided visit around downtown, also included in our tour. It took 45 min, very good information from a sympathetic official guide.
Beyond the old Venetian Palace (picture above), there is another charming building, The St. Stephen Renaissance Cathedral (séc. XVI e XVII), in the picture below.
We couldn’t visit the ship dock of Hvar and above it, one of the oldest theaters of Europe, built in 1611. They were under restoration…

You will find lots of lavender products in the small shops of Hvar. The island produces a huge amount of lavender on its own lands!
OUR EXPERIENCE WITH THE PELICAN TOURS AROUND THE MOST BEAUTIFUL CROATIAN ISLANDS
We arrived at Split and decided to visit the Croatian Islands in a small tour. We booked our tour in the internet. We opted by the full day tour, in a speed boat, for a maximum of 11 passengers. The skippers were Marco e Peter, very polite Croatians and owners of the boat. The meeting point was at 7:30 am, in front of the Diocleciano Palace and we were back at Split by 6:30pm.

PAY ATTENTION WHEN DECIDING AND BOOKING YOUR BOAT TOUR OF THE CROATIAN ISLANDS:
-The speed boat is small, fast and with a limited number of passengers. There was no shade, snack bar or bathroom. It can be an issue for small children or elderly people. In the other hand, it is compensated by the speed and flexibility. We arrived early at the Blue Cave, before the larger boats, we were able to cross the Green Cave inside the boat and get close to Stiniva beach! We liked a lot!
-We were 9 passengers and 2 skippers, so Peter and Marco could be very flexible and accommodate the asks from everybody…the group wanted to be in the sea as much as possible!
-The only drink available was water. They don’t serve any food, so take a lunch with you, since the stop for lunch is around 1pm.
-From Split, took us 1h 30min to arrive at the further attraction. Then, we started coming back, stopping at the most beautiful Croatian Islands. It is tiring, but really great. A larger boat touring the Croatian Islands wouldn’t be able to take us to so many attractions in the same day.
-If you want to book with The Pelican Tours, use their website at least 2 days before. We enjoyed the tour and recommend it.
-Our tour was called Blue Cave Tour. We paid $96 euros per person. It was the most expensive tour in our trip, but it was very worth it.
-In the beaches of the Croatian Islands, it is helpful to have rubber shoes to walk on the rocks. The small tents of the street market close to the Diocleciano Palace sell several models at low prices.
